As they had planned Veronica and Noah met in a trendy downtown cafe. They were friends now and that would have been a relaxing evening for both of them.
V. - Ok just stop to talk about work, tonight we have to have fun! - 
N. - I agree! Any news? Holidays? New friends? Boys? - he tried so hard to see her just as a friend, but maybe he didn’t get it well as he wanted to.
V. - Uhmm… Apart from my job, nothing new! - she said avoiding his question about the boys.
N. - Uhmm… ok… I get it… - he replied with some disappointment.
V. - And what about you? - 
N. - You know! I had a bad accident, I was in a coma for a while and I lost my friends, my old job and most of my charm. Nothing interesting! - 
V. - Noah… You have a new job now! I am your friend and… what about girls? - she found herself more curious than she expected to be.
N. - Are you kidding me? Look at me Ver! My left eye is almost completely blind, I have terrible scars and I live in a tiny sad house without knowing if I’ll have enough money to pay the bills. I’m not a very attractive guy. -
V. - I’m sorry and don’t want to… -
N. - Hey don’t be sorry! I’m ok with that. - he interrupted her. He was really aware of his situation and did not expect anything from the future or from her…
V. - Well, I’m single too. I dated a boy some time ago, but there’s nothing between us. - she didn’t know why, but she wanted to let him know she has nobody in her life.
They spent the evening talking and laughing and, of course, drinking.
